That’s right! End of the line…Sicily!!!!!!!
We made it! 12 months of planning from start to finish and it’s done. After every phone call made, every sleepless night of worry, every person we had to tell who laughed and suggested we would never make Paris, every sponsor found, every donation begged for, every thank you email sent (lots still to do, so sorry but I really will thank you all!), every pound spent, every day of training, every sore, ache, bike failure, wrong turning, cancelled bookings, hunger and ultimately exhaustion… We did it.
We did it so now we can go back to every single one of those people however well we know them and however experienced they are at cycling and say we did it. For the laughs, the occasionally golden beautiful rides, the experience, the travelling, the memories but most importantly of all (by a long way) we did it for the Alzheimer’s Society.
These guys work far harder than we have ever worked, for longer and more consistently. They help actually make a difference to people’s lives. Without that this was just a pointless expedition of training and triumph. We only did what we did, so in some small way we can help them do what they do best.
By my last check we have now raised a huge £4200! We are have been so delighted and have been carefully watching the money rise. Without all the followers on here and the donaters we couldn’t of done it. You really have helped a great cause. We would love it though if those who haven’t donated yet, do so now. Every penny goes straight to where it belongs.
We are now sleeping in the airport it Palermo waiting for our flight back to Stansted. It’s been a tough 29 hour wait for the plane but there was no way we wanted to pay for a hotel! We are however going to sleep like babies when we return.
So this is us signing off, saying goodbye, ciao for now. Thanks for the support all of you. We are likely to post just one more time in a couple weeks to show all our stats of our achievements. We’re off to cover what we did in 37 days in 3 hours by plane. Bit disappointing that it could have been that quick but, we definitely took the fun route!
See you soon,
